CTRL + ALT + DEL-EAT: Healthy Living in Our Century
My name is Tiffany Albury. I am 26 years old and I currently live in Palm Beach County, FL. I was born in Miami and raised in The Bahamas. In 2004, when I was 12, my family and I came to Florida and moved to Daytona Beach. I attended Mainland High (GO BUCS!) and upon graduating I attended the awesome University of Florida (GO GATORS!)! I graduated in 2011 with my Bachelor’s in Anthropology and obtained my First Responder Emergency Medical Technician license thereafter. I worked at the Alachua County Health Department for 3 years as a medical assistant/tech and for the pas 2 years have been working as a medical assistant at Florida Atlantic University. I graduated in May 2016 with my Master of Public Health and I am currently pursuing my health coaching certification. Although I am obsessed with multiple areas of health and wellness, my main areas of interest deal with women, infants, children, and adolescents, in addition to areas of infectious disease and social/behavioral health.
Pretty much you can say that I am a health enthusiast! What is a health enthusiast you may ask? Well, I define myself as someone who is constantly excited about health, healthy habits & healthy lifestyles. I enjoy learning (and sometimes practicing) new ideas, findings, research, developments, and ways of being healthy in today’s world! I love it ALL! I’ve always enjoyed science and the miracle of the human body; how it works and how WE as human beings are allowed to control what happens to our bodies! If you sit down and think about it, it is pretty amazing.
I found my passion in health early on before even knowing what was ahead in my future. I was 10 years old when I was hospitalized and had to be air-lifted to another island facility in order to survive. My heart. It was my heart that had been giving me these challenges for the majority of my life. That night, my first night ever being in a hospital as a child, I was cardioverted 3 times and could have died. I went through many years of surgeries, medications, tests, more surgeries, more medications, more restrictions on my life and finally in July 2013 my surgery was successful! My heart was “fixed”. I was alive! I was active! I didn’t need any medications or any more tests! It worked!
As I went through all these different situations, I always remembered the people who cared for me. Family, friends, the staff of the hospital, my surgeons, my nurses, my techs, and more. I remembered how each person made sure I was okay and that I was healthy. How much they really wanted to ensure that I was going to live the life I wanted to live. I knew I wanted to do that for other people. Despite any circumstances that they were faced in life, I wanted to be the person who championed them through all of it. I went from saying I wanted a career as a Doctor to a Physician Assistant to a Public Health Professional. And even now, as I pursue my health coaching certification, I know I will be accomplishing much more outside of just my career.
My VISION for our world is one that is loving, connected, equal and where everyone GETS that they matter. I want people to wake up and experience love for themselves, for others, and for the world. My mission is to have each person understand that they can live a healthy lifestyle. With a combination of time, commitment, patience, hard work, and even love, your life can be a healthy one. I am here to have others achieve that.
