21-Day Fast

Hello & Welcome to March! 🌸🌼🌺

I will be embarking on a 21-day fast this year and I am so excited! I really wanted to share with you all what it means to me to fast and why I am choosing to fast during this period. I have fasted in the past at different lengths while focusing on different things and during every fast it has allowed me to have a period of much needed reflection, focus and prayer.This past Sunday at church, the pastor invited everyone to enter into a period of fasting for this Lenten season as we approach Easter. During the sermon I realized that I have been so caught up in my work, my goals, my coaching, my Instagram and my life outside, that I could really benefit from a period of inward reflection. Sometimes we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we often forget it is okay to slow down, take a step back and re-group. This is why I am fasting.

This year I am choosing to fast from the following: coffee, sugar/unnatural sugars, Netflix/TV, and social media. Phew. I know. When I first decided what I wanted to fast from it seemed overwhelming, but I honestly know I could do it because I’ve done all individually before–just not all at once. I am taking this opportunity to challenge myself, but also shift my thinking, my processes and my behaviors in an alternate way. I plan to spend this time reflecting, praying with God, meditation, connecting with nature and my environment and really working on bringing my vision into a clearer space and mind. All of the following I listed are distractions in my life, I know they distract me and this is a time to step away from them.

Clutter is not only physical but mental as well. During this fast I plan to declutter any ideas, thoughts, emotions, or feelings that are not serving me or my God to the highest good. Sometimes being still, quiet, and calm is the best medicine for us to find the balance.

So this is an invitation to you, to join in with me and choose at least ONE thing you would like to break hold of, break free from or just overall improve in your life and choose that for your fasting period. If you don’t start now, don’t worry, you can fast at any POINT! When you make the decision to fast, feel free to contact me for information or tips. As always, consult a doctor if you have any medical conditions. Do your research. Most importantly, use this fast as a tool to take a big step in your life towards clarity and healing.
